About the Event

A Day of Hoops & Heart

Dunk Alzheimer's is an annual 3v3 basketball tournament fundraiser founded by the Veksler Family in May 2019. What started as a neighborhood event has grown into a community-wide celebration of sport and solidarity, raising over $95,350 for Alzheimer's research.

Kids and adults of all skill levels are welcome to play, cheer, and support the cause. Whether you're lacing up for the first time or you're a seasoned baller, this event is for you.

Age Groups & Divisions

Everyone Plays

We welcome players of all ages and skill levels. Teams are organized into the following divisions:

Kids Division

Youth

Ages 8–12

Half-court 3v3 games in a fun, low-pressure environment. Great for young ballers getting their first tournament experience.

Teen Division

Teen

Ages 13–17

Competitive 3v3 play for middle and high school players. Show off your skills and represent your squad.

Adult Division

Adult

Ages 18+

Full-speed 3v3 competition for adults. All skill levels welcome — from weekend warriors to former college players.

Mixed/Family Division

Family

All Ages

Teams with a mix of ages (e.g. parents and kids). A great way for families to compete together for the cause.

Tournament Rules

How It Works

Standard 3v3 basketball rules apply. Here's a quick breakdown of what to expect on game day:

Team Composition

  • Teams consist of 3 players on the court with up to 2 substitutes (5 players max per roster).
  • All players must be registered before game day — no walk-on additions.
  • Teams must have at least 3 players present to start a game.

Game Format

  • Games are played to 21 points (win by 2) or a 15-minute time cap, whichever comes first.
  • Field goals count as 1 point; shots from beyond the arc count as 2 points.
  • The ball must be cleared behind the arc after each defensive rebound or steal.
  • Check ball at the top of the key to start play and after each made basket.

Fouls & Violations

  • Players call their own fouls. Disputes are settled by a coin flip or re-do.
  • 7 team fouls per game results in free throws for the opposing team.
  • Flagrant fouls result in immediate ejection from the game.
  • Good sportsmanship is required at all times — unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification.

Tournament Structure

  • Round-robin pool play followed by single-elimination bracket.
  • Top teams from each pool advance to the elimination rounds.
  • Championship game and awards ceremony at the end of the event.
  • Trophies and prizes awarded to division winners.
